The Wade Ave. underpass isn’t on any named Raleigh Greenway. In fact, there is only about 100 yards of asphalt in this little handy connector. This trail offers a safe passage under Wade Ave. and affords the cyclist a straight shot to downtown Raleigh from Five Points via West St. The Layered Croissanterie on West St. is almost reason enough to try this connector. There are plans to link this ribbon of asphalt to a longer stretch reaching downtown by going through a planned park along Capitol Blvd.
Riding North-South in the Capitol City can be a challenge. The above route shows a way to linkt the Crabtree Creek Trail at Kiwanis Park with the Walnut Creek Trail at the Wetlands center. Neighborhood streets are used in the Five Points neighborhood to the above Wade Ave. underpass and on to West St. West St. is a lightly travelled light industrial street into town where it intersects Hargett. Hargett links to the Little Rock Trail, and on to the Walnut Creek Trail, bypassing much of the downtown traffic.
