This route follows the Walnut Creek and Little Rock trails to travel between Dix Park and the John Winters Park. The route turns on Hargett to get up into Boylan Heights, and back to Dix. Between the busses, the lights, and the traffic, Hargett has an urban feel, but traffic can’t build much speed, so it is a safe alternative for a cyclist. The Little Rock Trail offers some of the quietest north-south riding in the downtown area. It has the added luster of passing the The Transfer Food Hall – should you require a quick nosh or quaff.
Connections from the Little Rock Trail can easily be made to the Crabtree Creek Trail by going north through Oakwood and the neighborhoods near Lions Park. In this route, Hargett links the north end of the Little Rock Trail with streets in Boylan Heights, and ultimately, the Rocky Branch Trail back to Dix Park. As an alternative to Hargett, South St. could be used to avoid some of the hubbub. Rocky Branch Trail is the name of the greenway on both the north and south sides of Western Blvd. between Boylan Heights, and Avent Ferry Rd.
