Knightdale Loop Stretched South 45.1 miles

This longest of the Knightdale routes, this one is best done on a Sunday morning – or whenever traffic is light. About 28 miles of the ride are on the greenway, but a stretch of the Auburn-Knightdale Rd. has a 55 mph speed limit, and the road isn’t really wide enough for passing dump trucks – although they are usually very courteous. Forestville Rd. into Knightdale is another leg that seems safest at non peak times.

This route goes out the Crabtree Creek Trail, up the Neuse River Trail to Buffalo Rd., and out to Knightdale on Forestville Rd. Knightdale presents opportunities for relief and refreshment before heading south on Bethlehem, Grasshopper, and Auburn-Knighdale roads to the Neuse River Trail, and back to downtown.

Tunnel under State S. on the Walnut Creek Trail. There is a sharp right turn when exiting the tunnel from the east. Careful!
