Art Museum Park

For a cyclist, the Art Museum Park is best skirted on the perimeter. The park is a great destination, or a place to park for bike rides to Umstead Park and Cary, but its popularity makes for lots of pedestrians, dogs, and kids – and potential entanglements with cyclists. The Reedy Creek Greenway bridge is a great beltline crossing for all, so mixed traffic is a given. The best strategy is to go slowly and stick to the trails on the south side of the park, and to the bike path along Blue Ridge Rd.

This feature installation on Blue Ridge Road is called Ulalu by Mark di Suvero. The parking lot in the background begins to tell a tale of the numbers using the park on this day.
Woodland Trail in Art Museum Park

There are trails through the park, but they are more suited to pedestrians than cyclists.
