There aren’t many options to cross US 1/64 between Crossroads and the US 1/64 split. The Hinshaw Greenway links two Cary parks, Maria Dorrel Park and MacDonald Woods Park and crosses the highway using a bike/ped bridge. Bowstring Vines is the name of the public art installation at the ends and in the middle of the bridge. Marla Dorrel Park is on the southeast side of the highway, and is near Cary neighborhoods such as Lochmere. Links to Raleigh can be made via various roads from the Lake Johnson area. From the other side of US 1/64, Cary Parkway can be used to reach Bond Park. From MacDonald Woods thePirate’s Cove Greenway heads north to link with side streets and the Walnut Street Park. From there, Walnut and Maynard can be followed to reach the Umstead Park area.
The above map shows the Hinshaw Greenway bridge as the fine green line that crosses the highway.
This connector is used on the Over the Water and Through the Woods Take Two Route.
