The Trailwood Dr. bridge is one of the quietest ways to cross the beltline south of town. It links the many apartment buildings south of the highway with Centennial and Main Campus of NC State University. Getting there from Dix Park is an easy ride out Main Campus Drive past the soccer fields and Lonnie Poole golf course on the Centennial Campus.
South of the highway, the Trailwood Dr. intersects with Lineberry Dr., a road with protected bike lanes, that passes through a triangle shaped residential residential area bordered by Tryon Rd., Lake Wheeler Rd., and I-40. Carolina Pines Park is and easy ride from here, and is just east of Lake Wheeler Rd.
The bridge is used on the Howling Cow Ice Cream Run, as well as the route(s) called Gemini.
