This is short loop with four relatively gentle climbs is ideal for a quick exercise hit perfect for a one hour lunch break. Done clockwise the last two miles are a gentle downhill coast back to Dix Park.
Starting from the parking lot for the (former) soccer fields at Dix Park, the first interval is to the south side of the park and climbs about 90 feet in about 1/2 mile. The second interval starts near the Lonnie Poole golf course and climbs about 160 feet over a mile and a half. The third climb starts at Lake Johnson and climbs about 120 feet over a mile and half. The last climb starts at Kentwood Park and climbs about 140 feet over a mile. This climb ends at Ligon and Kaplan. From there the last couple of miles are basically downhill back to Dix Park.
